This videoconference is organized by the United Nations Regional Hub for Big Data in Brazil, in collaboration with the Statistics Division of ECLAC and the National Institute of Statistics (INE) of Chile. It is part of a series of webinars dedicated to the Sustainable Development Indicators, aimed at broadening the regional debate on the use of new technologies and emerging methodologies — such as artificial intelligence, data science, big data, and other alternative data sources — in the production of official statistics and indicators for monitoring the 2030 Agenda. This third session featured the participation of InKyung Choi, representing the High-Level Group for the Modernization of Official Statistics (HLG-MOS) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). This presentation links the recent outcomes of the HLG-MOS with the strategic needs of the NSOs’ modernization process, particularly in addressing the challenges of transforming statistical production, proactively strengthening trust, and developing greater organizational agility.
