Videoconference on Indigenous Data Sovereignty for Biodiversity and Rights-Based Governance
This videoconference was organized by the United Nations Regional Hub for Big Data in Brazil, in collaboration with the Statistics Division of ECLAC and the National Institute of Statistics of Chile, and is part of a series of webinars dedicated to the Sustainable Development Indicators. The aim is to broaden the regional debate on the use of new technologies and emerging methodologies—such as artificial intelligence, data science, big data, and other alternative data sources—in the production of official statistics and indicators for monitoring the 2030 Agenda. On this occasion, Indigenous data sovereignty was addressed in the context of biodiversity and rights-based governance.
