The Global Environment Facility (GEF) is a family of funds focused on biodiversity loss, climate change, pollution, land, and ocean degradation. Its funding enables developing countries to meet the challenges and move towards international environmental goals. The GEF Partnership ensures collaboration between its 186 member governments, civil society, indigenous peoples, women, and youth, with a focus on integration and inclusion. Over the past three decades, the Global Environment Facility (GEF) has provided more than $25 billion in financing and leveraged $145 billion for country-driven priority projects. The family of funds includes the Global Environment Facility Trust Fund, the Global Biodiversity Framework Fund (GBFF), the Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF), the Special Climate Change Fund (SCCF), the Nagoya Protocol Implementation Fund (NPIF), and the Capacity-building Initiative for Transparency (CBIT).
