The Maldives Anti-Corruption Conference 2024, organized by Transparency Maldives in collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Commission, focused on climate governance and corruption, a critical intersection for a nation facing existential threats from climate change. With substantial climate finance flowing into the country for mitigation and adaptation projects, this conference brought together government agencies, civil society organizations, and key stakeholders to address governance gaps, transparency challenges, and accountability mechanisms in climate finance management. With the Maldives joining OGP in 2024, this session, led by the Ministry of Finance (MoF), Association for Democracy (ADM), and Transparency Maldives (TM) explains how citizen participation is mandatory in developing action plans. The presentation covers the Coalition for Open Governance (COG), capacity building for NGOs, and the importance of multistakeholder meetings.
