Ahaa Hoadhaa

Access to information is a crucial part of any democracy. The Right to Information law and the rights it provides every citizen is a powerful tool in keeping our elected officials and public institutions accountable. Under the RTI law of the Maldives, requests are to be answered in 21 days, or 48 hours if the information is relevant to an individual’s liberty or protection of a person’s life. Since the passing of the RTI law in 2013, Transparency Maldives has been working with local communities, local governments, public institutions and public information officers in order raise awareness about the law and the rights it affords. Huge thanks to Dice Media Station and all the volunteers who made this video a reality!
