In Azerbaijan, transformation in agriculture education is supported by FAO's Lifecycle Management of Pesticides project, financed by the Global Environment Facility. Through integrated pest management trials, students are proving that biological controls work, cutting pesticide use while protecting crops. The result is lower costs for farmers and higher safety for consumers. With proper practices like pruning and leaf removal, high productivity can be achieved without chemical treatments. When pests appear, biological control methods such as yellow traps and pheromones are used. Organic fertilizers of plant and animal origin are preferred over chemicals. The project's message is clear: the best harvest is a safe one. This model is now spreading across the region, demonstrating that sustainable agriculture protects both farmer livelihoods and consumer health.
