The World Banana Forum (WBF) Secretariat organized a webinar on Sustainable Water Management in Banana Producing Systems, highlighting the importance of efficient water use across banana production and post-harvest operations. The webinar addressed key challenges related to irrigation efficiency, water consumption in packing houses, and the increasing pressures posed by climate variability. Experts and stakeholders from across the banana value chain shared practical experiences, innovative technologies, and good agronomic practices, including precision irrigation, sensor-based water management, fertigation systems, and digital tools for water footprint assessment. These approaches aim to improve water-use efficiency, strengthen production system resilience, and support the transition toward more sustainable banana value chains. ------------------------------------------------------ La Secretaría del Foro Mundial Bananero (FMB) organizó un seminario web sobre Manejo Sostenible del Agua en Sistemas de Producción Bananera, destacando la importancia del uso eficiente del agua en la producción y las operaciones postcosecha del banano. El seminario abordó desafíos clave relacionados con la eficiencia del riego, el consumo de agua en las empacadoras y las crecientes presiones derivadas de la variabilidad climática.
