Copenhagen venues raise over 40,000 DKK for journalists in Palestine
On Thursday 27 November, cafes, bars and restaurants across Copenhagen pledged to donate proceeds from peak trading hours to raise funds for Palestinian journalists.
Thanks to the generosity of participating venues and the guests who dined, drank and donated in them, the Palestine Freedom Hours campaign raised over 40,000 DKK in a single day.
Seventeen venues took part, including Pulp Bar, Sorte Firkant, Casamadre, Arabica, Nr 30, Kate’s Joint, Kølsters Tolv Haner, Marias Kaffebar, FAR, Shawarma Almalek, Sankt Pauli Bar and Jolene.
Through IMS partner Filastiniyat, the money will go towards providing journalists with emergency financial aid, safe workspaces, electricity, internet access, clean water and temporary shelter. Depending on local availability, it will also go towards emergency packages containing hygiene supplies, winter clothing, blankets and mattresses.
