There is currently a rush to build gas-fired power generation across the U.S., which largely ignores significant financial risks, long execution timelines, and competition from less-expensive, quicker-to-build renewable and battery storage options. On Thursday, May 14, 2026, we held a webinar featuring IEEFA's Dennis Wamsted and Jackson Voss from the Alliance for Affordable Energy for a discussion on the national and local aspects of the financial risks to overbuilding gas-fired generation.
