The future of the Common Agricultural Policy and organic - EP event 4 March 2026

On 4 March 2026, we brought the discussion on the future of the EU Common Agricultural Policy to the European Parliament, together with policymakers, experts and the organic sector. The message was clear: organic farming must have a central place in the next CAP. Throughout the event, speakers highlighted that organic farming delivers real benefits for farm resilience, climate action, biodiversity, rural vitality and generational renewal. At the same time, an important concern emerged: without proper ringfencing of agri-environmental measures and organic support, the CAP risks weakening environmental ambition and creating an uneven playing field between Member States. From transition payments and predictability for organic farmers, to the wider opportunities offered by the EU budget, the discussion showed strong recognition that organic is not a niche, but a strategic sector for Europe’s future. A big thank you to all speakers and participants for a rich and timely exchange, and especially to the Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament and MEPs Camilla Laureti and Dario Nardella for co-hosting this event with us. 🎥 In this video, our own Laura Sauques and organic farmer Erika Olsson share why this debate matters.
