WEBINAR: Accompaniment in a World in Crisis: Hope, Refuge, & the JRS Response in the Middle East
This webinar is part of the IIHA's A World in Crisis Series
In the Middle East & North Africa – a region of the world plagued by violence for half a century – Fr. Dan Corrou leads the team at Jesuit Refugee Service, covering Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Iraq. Learn how his team balances ongoing accompaniment of refugees and other migrant people, providing education, community building, mental health support, and more, with the intermittent need – including in the current moment – to rapidly pivot to crisis response and provide shelter, food, and other basic necessities to the community. Fr. Dan will also preview the JRS Jordan-American Friends Service Committee short film “A Journey of Hope,” showcasing powerful stories of refugees from Sudan, Iraq, Syria, Eritrea, Somalia, and Yemen that provide living testimonies to the perseverance of individuals pursuing a better life in the face of forced displacement.
About the panelist: Daniel Corrou, S.J., is a Jesuit priest from the USA East Province who is currently the regional director of Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) Middle East & North Africa (Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria).
