⚙️ Who protects the people powering Africa’s digital economy? As we mark International Workers’ Day, we amplify the voices of platform workers across the continent: workers who are sustaining transport, delivery, logistics, domestic work and digital services, yet continue to face low pay, legal ambiguity, and exclusion from basic labour protections. Different platforms. One reality. One demand. Across sectors, platform workers are calling for urgent policy and regulatory reform that recognises the changing nature of work without compromising the fundamental rights of workers. In partnership with Central Organization of Trade Unions Kenya and its affiliates, the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung is bringing together workers to advance a common call: 👉 Recognition as workers under labour law 👉 Access to social protection and fair working conditions 👉 Transparency, dignity, and accountability in platform management Because digital innovation cannot be built on unprotected labour. 📢 Rights-based digital transformation requires workers to be seen, heard, and protected.
