Newly Constructed Pico-Hydro Systems
On Pentecost Island, the three newly constructed pico-hydro systems, developed with support from the Government of Japan, have begun generating electricity for 26 settlements, providing 24/7 renewable power that directly benefits over 3,200 people and indirectly improves the lives of around 6,000 residents across the island.
With the official launching ceremony and handover to the Government of Vanuatu scheduled for 24 March 2026, this milestone marks the arrival of clean, renewable electricity flowing into homes, businesses, and institutions across the three areas of Pentecost Island.
