From Knowledge to Action: Key Insights from the BESPIN Regional Trialogue for Europe & Central Asia
In May 2026, more than 80 participants from 12 countries met in Skopje, North Macedonia, for the BESPIN Regional Trialogue on Europe and Central Asia. Over three days, they worked through a question that comes up across the region again and again: how do you move biodiversity and climate knowledge out of assessments and into the policies, institutions and decisions that shape what happens on the ground?
This recap video walks through six insights from those discussions. Among them: why the real barrier is often underused knowledge rather than missing knowledge, what separates a pilot project from a solution that lasts past its funding cycle, and why community knowledge has to shape how a problem is defined, not just feed into a report after the fact.
The BESPIN Trialogue is part of BES-Net's work supporting countries to connect biodiversity and ecosystem services knowledge with policy and action, including through national ecosystem assessments and regional cooperation across Europe and Central Asia.
