Policy dialogue on domestic revenue mobilization progress and challenges

Many developing countries still collect less than 15% of GDP in taxes — a level often considered insufficient to fund essential public services. At the same time, the average African country now needs nearly six years of revenue to service one year of debt. This high-level policy dialogue, co-organized by the OECD Development Centre, UNU-WIDER, and the University of Manchester (GDI), examines the progress and challenges of domestic revenue mobilization (DRM) across Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Asia. The event brings together policymakers, tax administrators, ambassadors, researchers, and international organisations to reflect on how countries can raise revenues fairly and effectively in a changing global context. https://www.wider.unu.edu/event/domestic-revenue-mobilization-progress-and-challenges
