At Bloomberg CityLab 2026, photojournalist Leah Pattem and political scientist Hahrie Han explored how cities can foster belonging, strengthen civic engagement, and create spaces where people can shape their shared future. From neighborhood gathering spaces to new tools for understanding civic life, their discussion examined what it takes to build more connected communities. Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Aspen Institute brought mayors, policymakers, and urban innovators from around the world to Madrid for Bloomberg CityLab 2026 to strengthen global cooperation and share practical, city-led solutions to today’s biggest challenges.
