Police and other law enforcement officials have a mission: maintain and restore public security, law and order. But there is a limit to how much force they can use in pursuing these objectives. International law requires them to use the minimum force possible. ❌ They must not be used against peaceful or non-threatening individuals or crowds. ❌ They must not be used instead of non-violent de-escalation methods. ✔️ They must only be used when necessary and proportionately. ✔️ Medical care must be provided following their use. 👇🏽
