You might have seen a video showing metal boxes marked with the emblem of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and filled with money.
For many years, this same footage has circulated online, resurfacing in different countries, each time with the same false message: that the ICRC is transporting boxes of cash for an unclear purpose.
This video is a fake.
We don’t know why it was created, but we do know that spreading misinformation about the ICRC can undermine humanitarian work and deprive communities in need of vital aid.
