Smooth hammerhead sharks are remarkably versatile, spending much of their time near the ocean’s surface in cooler, temperate waters where food is plentiful, yet they are just as capable of descending hundreds of meters in search of prey. Although they tend to live solitary lives as adults, they are also known to gather in small groups.
