Legislation alone won't fix this. We need a ‘cultural norm shift’ around social media
Laws matter. But they're not enough on their own. Hannah Perry, Director at Demos, makes the case that fixing our relationship with social media, especially for children, requires something bigger: a genuine shift in social and cultural norms.
That means media that tells different stories. Formats that trigger conversations at home, in schools and across communities. A BBC that sees media literacy as a core part of its mission.
Regulation sets the floor. Culture determines how high we build from it.
