Lebanon’s water crisis: Beirut
With four rivers within its national boundaries, Lebanon was once considered the most water-rich country in the Middle East. However, today the country’s water supply is under mounting pressure.
An economic meltdown has left more than half of Lebanon’s population in poverty, and more than 70 per cent of the population faces critical water shortages. In Greater Beirut, the water supply drops to three hours per day during the summer.
