High-Level Side Event- 39th AU Summit: Digital Health Technologies for RMNCAH in Africa

The African Union Commission (AUC), through the Department of Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, convened a High-Level Side Event during the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union Summit under the theme: “Strengthening Integrated WASH-RMNCAH Systems through Digital and Data-Driven Approaches to Advance the Maputo Plan of Action and CARMMA Plus.” Held on 13 February 2026 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the event brought together Heads of State, Ministers of Health, development partners, digital innovators, and continental health experts to explore how digital health technologies can accelerate progress in Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) across Africa. The forum highlighted innovative digital solutions for improving maternal and child health outcomes, strengthening health systems, expanding equitable access to care, and advancing the goals of the Maputo Plan of Action, the CARMMA Plus Campaign, Agenda 2063, and the AU Digital Health Strategy 2024–2030. A major highlight of the event was the official launch of the CARMMA Plus digital platform, designed as a continental hub for RMNCAH information, advocacy, accountability, and knowledge sharing. The event featured keynote remarks and panel discussions from African leaders, Ministers of Health, the Africa CDC, WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, digital health innovators, and development partners committed to transforming health outcomes for women, children, and adolescents across the continent. #AfricanUnion #DigitalHealth #RMNCAH #CARMMAPlus #MaternalHealth #ChildHealth #AfricaHealth #Agenda2063 #Innovation #PublicHealth #HealthSystems #AfricaCDC #UNICEF #WHO
