Meet Wonder, a Ghanaian baby who was admitted to a hospital in Kumasi with #malaria at just 12 weeks old.
He was treated with Coartem® Baby, the first antimalarial developed specifically for newborns and young infants, introduced in Ghana at the end of last year.
Today, he is back home with his family.
This medicine fills a critical gap in the antimalarial toolbox, giving the youngest patients a treatment designed specifically for them.
Last week, the medicine was prequalified by the WHO.
For this patient group, prequalification means a clearer path to getting the right treatment, where and when it is needed.
The medicine was developed through a collaboration between MMV and Novartis, as part of the PAMAfrica consortium, co-funded by the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
We are deeply grateful to our partners and donors whose support made the development of this medicine possible.
