UNFPA Afghanistan supported Basic Health Centres ensure safe deliveries for mothers.
In Daman village of Behsood district in Nangarhar, Afghanistan, access to quality maternal healthcare was once a major challenge. Many women gave birth at home without proper medical care, risking their lives and their babies’ health. Today, Daman Village Basic Health Centre, supported by UNFPA, is changing that reality.
“We need more female staff, especially for awareness-raising, because demand for these services is growing. With continued support, we can further reduce maternal and child mortality and ensure every woman gets the care she deserves,” said midwife Waheeda.
Every mother deserves safe childbirth.
