Family Health Houses - lifeline for women in Afghanistan.

Family Health Houses - lifeline for women in Afghanistan.

In remote areas of Afghanistan, UNFPA and donor supported Family Health Houses are the only source of care for thousands of women and girls. In 2024 alone, 13.7 million people used their services. With global funding cuts, we risk scaling back this lifeline. This specific FHH in Ghor province is supported by the Government of Australia. As of May 2025, 386 Family Health Houses are operational across the country thanks to the support of donors and partners. This is a scaled down number due to global funding cuts. We must sustain and expand these facilities, as they have proved to be a successful healthcare model for women and girls in the most remote corners of Afghanistan.
