Climate Resilience for All: Strengthening Disability-Inclusive Climate Action in Africa (webinar)
Climate change is deepening social inequalities across Africa, disproportionately affecting women, youth, older persons, informal settlement dwellers, and persons with disabilities (PWD). Disability often intersects with other forms of marginalisation, yet remains underrepresented in climate policy, planning, and response.
Within the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN)’s Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) work, disability is recognised as a critical dimension requiring focused attention. PWD are frequently excluded from decision-making, adaptation programmes, and early warning systems, while also facing significant barriers during climate-related emergencies and recovery efforts.
Co-hosted by CDKN and the Norwegian Federation of Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (FFO), this webinar entitled "Strengthening Disability Inclusion within GESI-Responsive Climate Action in Africa" brought together practitioners, researchers, and disability-led organisations to share experiences, strategies, and lessons aimed at strengthening the integration of disability within GESI-responsive, locally led climate action across Africa.
