AI must be transparent, accountable and factual

“If all AI systems are giving priorities to non-facts or dealing with facts and non-facts and facts and mis-disinformation as the same, then what is the content that we will be giving our kids and the generations to come in the future?” - Rawen Damen AI must be transparent, accountable and factual: Rawan Damen, Director General of Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ) outlines three core demands: transparency in the disclosure of AI-generated or AI-assisted content; accountability from major technology companies over the use of data, copyright and the spread of mis- and disinformation; and a commitment to factual information as the bedrock of any AI system. She also questions whether Arabic and its many dialects are truly a priority for technology companies in Silicon Valley. On the deepening threat of deepfakes and information disorder, she states,“We cannot support the AI revolution without facts, without independent media, without supporting the facts” and calls for training and guidelines for all organizations before using AI tools. ------- The WCC is a worldwide fellowship of churches seeking unity in common witness and Christian service.
