This video by the Refugee-Led Network (RLN) Bangkok aims to raise awareness of the hardships refugee families face in Thailand. Thousands of mothers, children, and elderly refugees live in constant fear, denied legal recognition and protection. Instead of being seen as people seeking safety, they are labeled as illegal migrants. Mothers struggle to raise their children, even stepping outside risking detention. The Thai government's 'Memorandum of Understanding on the Determination of Measures and Approaches Alternative to Detention of Children in Immigration Detention Centres (MOU-ATD)' was meant to protect children in detention. However, it fails to uphold the best interests of children and their families, as outlined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). As the only refugee-led advocacy group in Thailand, RLN is dedicated to advocating for the rights of these vulnerable children and families.
