The "African and Classical Swine Fever in the Caribbean" workshop took place on January 15, 2026, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. This meeting focused on building practical regional defenses and response plans against these two major threats to the swine industry. Led by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and PROCINORTE, the event brought together specialists and officials to share technical expertise and sharpen disease surveillance. The goal was simple: boost regional cooperation to better protect local producers from the risks of ASF and CSF. ------------------------------------------------- El 15 de enero de 2026 se llevó a cabo en Puerto España, Trinidad y Tobago, el taller "Peste Porcina Africana y Clásica en el Caribe". El encuentro se centró en mejorar la capacidad de respuesta y la preparación real de la región ante estas dos enfermedades. Organizado por el Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación para la Agricultura (IICA) y PROCINORTE, el evento reunió a técnicos y autoridades para intercambiar experiencias y ajustar las estrategias de vigilancia. El enfoque principal fue unir esfuerzos regionales para proteger la producción porcina y reducir el impacto de la PPA y la PPC en el Caribe.
