Kalesang Dugong: Unlocking the Mysteries of Dugongs in the Lease Islands Since July 2022, CTC, in partnership with the Baileo Foundation and the Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (DKP) of Maluku Province, has been on a mission to protect dugongs and their seagrass habitats in the Lease Islands MPA through the groundbreaking "Kalesang Dugong" Project. Armed with cutting-edge drone technology, we pinpoint dugong locations, unveiling the mysteries of their behavior and safeguarding their home. But we don't stop there! We're turning local communities into citizen scientists, empowering them to report dugong sightings by simply scanning a QR code. Each contribution helps us build a clearer picture of when, where, and how these gentle giants live, using photos and videos captured by the community. Your sightings can make a real difference!
