Happy World Blood Donor Day! Donating blood can save lives. Among many other things, safe blood is essential for managing complications like postpartum haemorrhage, a leading cause of maternal mortality - and in Sierra Leone, which has the highest maternal mortality rate in the world, access to safe blood for transfusions is critical.
