Climate Action in the Asia Pacific
Asia Pacific, naturally the site of natural disasters, has seen increasing intensity in typhoons, not just in numbers, but in severity. Couple that with the general degradation and urbanisation of the environment. Add global warming on top of the megalopolises of Asia Pacific. Then humidity, rising water density, massive levels of heat variability, temperature variability. Along with that is the infectious disease risks. And in many places where we work, this is making vulnerable populations even more vulnerable. As MSF, what we see is a growing confluence of climate hotspots with humanitarian hotspots.
