Following this celebration of the richness of Pacific languages, we visit the 13th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture (FestPAC) in Hawai’i to experience the captivating expressions of heritage by the Solomon Island panpipers.
The episode also tackles critical issues facing Pacific communities. We feature the conclusion of our 3 part series on Social Citizenship Education (SCE), which highlights the role of education in supporting young people to connect with human rights across the region. This story focuses on empowering school students to become responsible Pacific citizens and underscores the importance of ending violence against women and girls.
In Samoa, we meet Tavita, featured in "Guardians of the Pacific" segment. Tavita shares his story and passion for coral restoration in the islands, linking directly to the vital topic of sustainable fisheries for the Pacific region.
The episode concludes by traveling to the North Pacific to premiere "Heroes of Micronesia" an animated series, brought to you by Nihi Indigenous Media (a Guahan based production house), celebrating the enduring legacy of elders and leaders in Micronesia, honouring figures such as healers, lawyers, artists, and leaders.
