The Pacific Way 2025 30th Anniversary Special Season - Episode 10

Hello, Kaselehlie, and Ra Nanim! Welcome to our final episode of this special 30th Anniversary season of The Pacific Way! Join host Hettie Sem as we celebrate 30 years of bringing you stories that matter to the Pacific, BY our people, FOR our people. In this episode, we focus on resilience, sustainability, and reflecting on our legacy: We present the second and final part of a 2-part series addressing water scarcity in Pacific atoll and raised limestone communities. This segment highlights that access to clean water should never be taken for granted and focuses on building greater community resilience through sustainable practices and infrastructure maintenance. We share an inspiring story of courage, and resilience by taking you to Vanuatu to document the community response following the life-changing earthquake in 2024. In our "Guardians of the Pacific" segment, we meet Teina from the Cook Islands. Faced with challenges in current fishing practices, Teina went to university to find solutions. He believes that by understanding the problem, his people can successfully return to the fishing practices they used to do in the past. We travel to Hawai’i to witness Samoa’s expression of culture at the 13th Festival of Pacific Arts & Culture. The season concludes with our final story: a reflective talanoa session with former The Pacific Way hosts. Hear their personal reflections on what it was like to be part of the pioneering team that brought The Pacific Way to the region when television was still new and continuing being the voice of Pacific storytelling. Don’t miss this final inspiring episode as we conclude 30 years of powerful Pacific storytelling!
