Sustainable Landscape Program Indonesia
Indonesia’s Sustainable Landscape Program (SLPI) is entering its second phase (2026–2029), building on four years of implementation supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
Working across 14 districts in five provinces, the programme brings together government, private sector and local communities to advance sustainable commodity production through a landscape approach.
Phase I demonstrated that aligned action can deliver tangible results. More than 1.7 million hectares were brought under improved management, over 8,000 farmers adopted sustainable practices, and more than 5,800 strengthened land tenure. At the same time, 19 local regulations integrated sustainability into policy frameworks, alongside growing investment aligned with sustainability goals. Beyond these outcomes, the programme strengthened how landscapes are governed. Multi-stakeholder platforms evolved into more structured mechanisms for coordination, while local governments increasingly integrated sustainability into development planning.
