Germany’s Defense Strategy: Economics and the Future of European Security

The German government has released a transformational national defense strategy, underpinned by a longer-term commitment to address Russia's growing challenge to European defense, modernize the bureaucracy, and equip the German armed forces for future combat. The new strategy is designed with Europe in mind, positioning Berlin at the center of a continent-wide defense. FPRI and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation were pleased to host a panel discussion with Mr. Roderich Kiesewetter, a member of the German Bundestag (CDU), and Walter Landgraf, Commentary Editor at War on the Rocks and FPRI Senior Fellow, about this new strategy and dive deeper on the economics to sustain it.
