Assessing Air and Missile Defenses During the Israel-Iran War

After years of tension, Iran and Israel went to war. The battles were largely fought in the air, with Israeli aircraft striking targets throughout Iran, followed by Iranian missile and drone salvos designed to exhaust Israeli society and defenses. How did Israeli air and missile defenses perform during the war? What did we learn about Iranian air defenses? Sam Lair, a Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI), used open source tools to document the firing rates of key American and Israeli-made missiles to defend Israeli society. FPRI President Aaron Stein will sit down with Sam to discuss his recent report on the role of air and missile defense in modern conflict and how the lessons from the 12-day war should impact American defense industrial policy.
