July 28th marks the birthday of the Hepatitis B virus discoverer and vaccine developer, Dr Blumberg. These achievements turned in winning the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1976. Each year, biotechnology researchers and organizations commemorate World Hepatitis Day to raise awareness about viral hepatitis, which impacts more than 354 million people worldwide. It creates an opportunity to educate people about the burden of these infections, biotechnology achievements and trends, and actions people can take to prevent these infections. The theme of World Hepatitis Day 2021 - "Hepatitis Can't Wait."
