জাতিসংঘের সিনিয়র ম্যানেজমেন্ট থেকে বিরতি-জনিত গভীর হতাশা, রোকেয়ার যাত্রা সহজ ছিল না। জেন্ডার স্পেশালিস্ট হিসেবে তিনি আন্তর্জাতিক পরিসরে কাজ করেছেন গর্বের সঙ্গে। জাতীয় ও আঞ্চলিক পর্যায়ে তাঁর কাজ স্বীকৃতি পেয়েছে, এবং পেশাগত পরিচয় ছিল দৃঢ় ও সম্মানজনক। কিন্তু একটি ক্যারিয়ার বিরতি সবকিছু বদলে দেয়। একের পর এক প্রত্যাখ্যান তার আত্মবিশ্বাসকে নাড়িয়ে দেয়। ইন্টারভিউয়ের পর ইন্টারভিউ শেষ হয়েছে ‘না’ দিয়ে। তিন মাসের দীর্ঘ নিয়োগ প্রক্রিয়াও শেষ মুহূর্তে থেমে যায়। খণ্ডকালীন পড়ানো চালিয়ে গেলেও ভেতরের শূন্যতা তাঁকে কষ্ট দিত। বছরের পর বছর গড়ে তোলা অভিজ্ঞতার চেয়ে যেন বিরতিটাই বড় হয়ে উঠেছিল। উইমেনস রিটার্নশিপ প্রোগ্রামটি ছিল ট্যাঁর জন্য অনেক উপকারী। সেখানে তিনি শুধু প্রশিক্ষণই পাননি, পেয়েছেন একধরনের পরিবার, একধরনের নিরাপদ পরিসর। একটি মক ইন্টারভিউ সেশনই হয়ে ওঠে তাঁর টার্নিং পয়েন্ট। তিনি আবার শিখেছিলেন আত্মবিশ্বাসের সঙ্গে নিজের কথা বলতে। এখন তিনি ওয়াটারএইড বাংলাদেশে ফেলো হিসেবে কাজ করছেন। তাঁর যোগ্যতা কখনো হারিয়ে যায়নি। শুধু আবার উঠে দাঁড়ানোর সুযোগের অপেক্ষায় ছিল। --- From senior management at the United Nations to the deep frustration that followed a career break, Rokeya's journey was far from easy. As a Gender Specialist, she worked with pride on the international stage. Her contributions were recognised at national and regional levels, and her professional identity was strong and respected. But a career break changed everything. One rejection after another began to shake her confidence. Interview after interview ended with a no. Even a three-month-long recruitment process stopped at the final stage. Though she continued part-time teaching, an inner emptiness remained. The break seemed to overshadow the years of experience she had built with dedication. The Women’s Returnship Programme became a turning point. It offered more than training. It gave her a sense of community and a safe space to rebuild. A single mock interview session helped her find her voice again and speak with confidence. Today, she works as a Fellow at WaterAid Bangladesh. Her competence never disappeared.
