Côte d’Ivoire: Traceability: For more reliable GPS data

Traceability challenges require actors in the cocoa value chain to produce geolocation and mapping data for cocoa plots. With the EU's legislative proposal on the import of products derived from deforestation, cooperative societies are facing new challenges. One requirement of the current proposal concerns the collection and verification of polygons of production areas. In order to involve the cooperative in this process, it has been necessary to assist it in learning how to use GPS tools and to record and monitor data using tools such as QGIS. The aim is to limit the use of external firms to carry out this activity and to help improve the reliability of geolocation data.
