Côte d’Ivoire: Diagnosis of cocoa cooperatives with a view to their professionalization

Côte d'Ivoire has around 4,000 cooperative societies in the coffee and cocoa sector alone. However, many of them are poorly structured and do not truly function as cooperative societies in accordance with the OHADA Uniform Act. In view of these facts, the Coffee and Cocoa Council decided to carry out an assessment of these organizations, with support from GIZ, in order to better target its interventions. This assessment identified the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of each cooperative, which were then categorized based on their level of development.
