From Commitment to Action: Key Takeways from WaterAid’s Global GEDSI Workshop in Kigali
WaterAid’s Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) advisors, focal points, and leaders from across Africa, South Asia, and Europe gathered in Kigali, Rwanda for a five-day Strategy and Practice Convening.
The workshop focused on strengthening collaboration, aligning regional priorities, and accelerating transformative change in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) systems.
Throughout the week, participants explored:
• Disability-inclusive WASH approaches
• Gender and power analysis
• Systems strengthening and advocacy
• Women’s leadership learning agendas
• Monitoring and evaluation through a GEDSI lens
• Strategic review and collective action planning
The Kigali convening marked a renewed commitment to embedding GEDSI at the heart of universal, sustainable and inclusive WASH programming.
Because inclusive systems do not happen by chance, they are built intentionally.
