💭 60 Years of ICOMOS: A Conversation with Alpha Diop 🎉This year ICOMOS celebrates its 60th anniversary. On this festive occasion, seven distinguished ICOMOS members look back on our shared journey dedicated to the conservation and protection of cultural heritage worldwide. We are proud to present the fifth interviewee in this series: Alpha Diop! Alpha Diop, former President of ICOMOS Mali and Vice-President of ICOMOS, has been instrumental in establishing ICOMOS National Committees throughout Africa. As an architect, researcher, and past President of the Order of Architects of Mali, he is a committed advocate for safeguarding Mali’s cultural heritage and for integrating local knowledge and practices into global heritage discussions. In recognition of his exceptional contributions, he was named a Knight of the National Order of Mali. In this interview, Alpha Diop speaks about the evolution of ICOMOS’ network in Africa and how ICOMOS can further contribute to the protection of African heritage.
