💭 60 Years of ICOMOS: A Conversation with Susan Barr
🎉 This year ICOMOS celebrates its 60th anniversary. On this festive occasion, seven distinguished ICOMOS members look back on our shared journey dedicated to the conservation and protection of cultural heritage worldwide.
We are thrilled to introduce the fourth interviewee in this series: Susan Barr!
A historian and pioneer in the field of polar heritage, Susan Barr is one of the first Arctic experts shaping international policy and conservation efforts in the Arctic and Antarctic. Having committed her career to polar heritage and having served as the Founding President of the International Polar Heritage Committee from 2000 to 2010, Susan Barr played a vital role in elevating it from a marginal topic to a recognized and valued part of our shared cultural heritage.
Watch this video, in which Susan Barr shares her insights on the importance of polar heritage and the challenges it faces due to climate change threatening the Arctic and Antarctic.
