In Nepal, IDA Supports Resilience Of People & Infrastructure Following Devastating Earthquake

The 2015 earthquake in Nepal displaced almost 3 million people and destroyed 800,000 houses. Kamran Akbar led IDA-supported World Bank reconstruction efforts, working with partners to design and rebuild resilient homes for 300,000 affected Nepalis. It also trained over 12,000 masons in multi-hazard resistant reconstruction—15% of them women.
