Sharpeville Play

Sharpeville Play

21 March was declared International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1966. Each year in Sharpeville, survivors of the 1960 massacre and families of the victims retell history through song, testimony, and theatre. The Sharpeville play transforms lived memory into a living archive, connecting past atrocities to present-day human rights education and advocacy. ROSA recorded the March 2025 performance to preserve these testimonies and performances to safeguard memory, ensures accuracy, and create a resource for future generations.
