“The world still believes in human rights”: Awa Dabo, UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights
Awa Dabo, the newly appointed UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, speaks about taking up her role at a critical moment for human rights, multilateralism and trust in institutions.
In her first week at UN Human Rights in Geneva, Dabo reflects on why human rights work matters now more than ever, and how the Office can help bring human rights closer to people by strengthening its regional and country presence.
She highlights the need to build coalitions around human rights, including with young people, women, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, marginalized communities, Member States, civil society and the private sector.
