🟢 The event ‘Hemen Da Geroa’, designed to introduce family farming to young people in the Basque Country, was a wonderful opportunity for international and local farmers, institutions and young people interested in starting a business in the sector to come together. 🌱It is possible to embark on a career in agriculture without any prior experience in the sector. This is demonstrated by the stories of Marcela, Antoine and Sebastián. We also heard from Maite, who has carried on her family’s legacy. 🌎International testimonials from Evelyn Brito (El Salvador), Tiffany Marcelle (Dominica) and Nikka Rivera (Philippines) provided insight into different global contexts. 🤝 Furthermore, the Basque Government, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, Lursail and Laboral Kutxa outlined their grant, support and mentoring programmes, which are essential for launching a project with the greatest possible logistical and financial backing. 🥬At the end of the day, attendees had the opportunity to visit the Luramak BIO agroecological project, led by two young women in Gamiz-Fika, where they were able to learn about a successful and sustainable initiative.
