Growing up in an informal and vulnerable community, Hiram had a first-hand encounter with researchers working with local residents in Viwandani to address pressing challenges. While he desired to be an architect, seeing science applied directly within his environment reshaped his perspective on education and possibility. Those early encounters sparked his curiosity and inspired him to pursue a career in research. Motivated by the realities he observed in his community, he chose to study Biotechnology, with a commitment to generating evidence that improves lives and advances equity through science.
