Caritas Internationalis President Cardinal Isao Kikuchi, Vice President Mena Antonio and Secretary General Alistair Dutton have expressed thanks to the more than 200,000 people worldwide who added their names during the Jubilee Year 2025 to the call from Pope Francis and Pope Leo to end the global debt crisis. Dozens of countries are facing a debt crisis that is preventing children from going to school, families from accessing healthcare, and communities from preparing for and rebuilding from climate disasters. The Turn Debt into Hope campaign is calling for creditors to cancel unjust and unpayable debts and leaders to prevent future debt crises by tackling their roots causes and reforming the global financial system to prioritise people and planet.
